"Longsword, circa 800 A.D, British Pattern-welded blade, imparting the distinctive dappled patterning and a keen edge. Hilt in the form of a goshawk, blade emerging from the hawk's open beak, guard formed by spread wings and pommel formed by the tail. Hilt is also richly decorated; feather detailing consist of bands of ivory and blue-grey onyx, while the eyes are amber. Preservation is remarkable, as the sword is complete and uncorroded. This unique artefact is occasionally linked to Aelfhafoc, a sword mentioned in a number of Anglo-Saxon and later legends."
